Martha  A. Muldowney

 1943 - 2018

NILES - Martha Ann (Oliva) Muldowney, 75, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Shepherd of the Valley (Niles) after an extended illness at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman.  The family thanks all the staff who cared for their beloved mother these last several months, including the staff of Harbor Light Hospice, as well as those who have cared for her over these past five years.

Martha was born Saturday, September 1, 1943 in Youngstown, Ohio to Paul and Martha (Rabovsky) Oliva.

She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Youngstown.

Martha graduated from Girard High School in 1962 and was fond of the early secretarial work she did for Attorney Luarde.  After attending cosmetology school, Martha became a licensed hairdresser at area Beauty Salons and an instructor at Lewis, Weinberger and Hill.

Hair by Marty, her beauty salon for 15 years, did a thriving business in Girard where she enjoyed the friendship of the other hairdressers and frequent visits of family and friends.  During retirement, Martha pursued her interest in local history and worked as a guide at the Arms Family Museum in Youngstown.

Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves to forever cherish her memory two daughters; Justine (Drew) Munera of Canfield and Yvette (John) Wasko of Liberty, her beloved grandchildren, Emma, Peyton, Ellie,

Olivia and Andrew.  She also leaves behind two sisters, Regina Oliva of Poland and Paulette (Juston) Jones of Akron and two brothers, Paul (Joanne) Oliva of Howland and James Oliva of Cuyahoga Falls.  Martha also leaves many other family members: her dear aunts and uncle, sister-in-law Alice Reiner and several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her former spouse, John Muldowney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica in Youngstown, Ohio on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM, by Rev. Msgr. Michael Cariglio.  Friends and family may call at 9:00 AM at the church before Mass. 

Entombment will be at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, Ohio.  A luncheon will follow at Leo’s Ristorante in Howland.

Memorial contributions to Animal Charity Humane Society, 4140 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio, 44512. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Selby - T.J. Fox Funeral Home in Vienna, Ohio.
